There’s no denying that this year has been stressful for teachers, with the stress of bouncing between virtual and in-school learning and constant worries about the pandemic.

But teachers’ resiliency during this long, difficult year brings us hope. They continue to teach against all odds, acting as a constant support in students’ lives. That’s worth celebrating!

Teachers should be celebrated every day, every week, and every year, but especially now during Teacher Appreciation Week. In honor of this special week, we're sharing the stories of some specially dedicated teachers who are bringing Red Nose Day into their classrooms and schools, and helping their students build empathy while positively impacting the lives of children around the world.

Let’s hear the stories of some amazing teachers, learning about what they’ve struggled with this year and how they’ve risen above it to keep students learning:

Meet Jill Takayama, a teacher in Walnut Elementary School, Walnut, CA. We asked her about the importance of community and what it means to her students and school.

Principal Atiba Buckman from Speedway Academies in Newark, NJ thanks teachers and the entire education workforce for continuing to provide children with education and food during the pandemic, sharing that from witnessing this cooperative effort, she had learned “the heart of humanity.”
