What is Red Nose Day?

Red Nose Day is a fundraising campaign run by the non-profit organization Comic Relief Inc., a registered U.S. 501(c)(3) public charity.

Red Nose Day brings people together to have fun, raise money and change the lives of kids who need our help the most.

Red Nose Day launched in the US in 2015, dedicated to ending child poverty, both in the US and in some of the poorest communities in the world. The money raised by Red Nose Day in the US has benefited programs for children and young people in all 50 states and in 25 countries internationally.

Globally, Red Nose Day has raised over $1 billion since its launch in the UK in 1988. 

Who is the organization behind Red Nose Day?

Red Nose Day is run by Comic Relief Inc., a U.S. 501(c)(3) public charity.

Red Nose Day is on a mission to end child poverty - one Nose at a time. Money raised supports programs that ensure children in need are safe, healthy and educated. 

Half of Red Nose Day's grant money will be spent right here in America on projects close to home. The other half will be spent in some of the poorest communities in Latin America, Africa and Asia. 

Beneficiaries of Red Nose Day grants include charity organizations such as Boys & Girls Clubs of America; charity:water; Children's Health Fund; Feeding America; Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance; National Council of La Raza; Save the Children; and the Global Fund.

Red Nose Day returns to America on Thursday May 25, 2017.

Where can I buy a Red Nose?

Walgreens is the exclusive retailer of the Red Noses, available at Walgreens and Duane Reade locations nationwide.

Apart from buying a nose, what else can I do?

There are lots of ways you can get involved, join the fun and support Red Nose Day, including donating, or joining or organizing a fundraiser.

If you would like to raise money for kids in need, start by downloading one of our fundraising kits, which are chock full ideas for how to fundraise with your classmates, colleagues or community.

To make it super simple to organize a fundraiser, we also have a bunch of ideas to get inspired where you can get creative, set up a personal fundraising page and invite your friends and family to donate directly to the cause.

Where does the money go?

The money raised by Red Nose Day benefits children in some of the neediest communities in the US and some of the poorest communities in the world. Partner charities include Boys & Girls Clubs of America; charity: water; Children’s Health Fund; Covenant House; Feeding America; Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance; National Council of La Raza; Save the Children and The Global Fund.

Can I apply for a grant from the Red Nose Day Fund?

The Red Nose Day Fund does not accept unsolicited grant applications. Organizations who receive grants are invited to submit proposals that deliver against the goals of the Red Nose Day Fund for 2017.

How can I make a donation or turn in my fundraising dollars to Red Nose Day?

ONLINE: The easiest way to make your donation or turn in your fundraising dollars is online (using PayPal, or your credit or debit card) here. We also encourage you to send us a note with details about your fundraiser (and photos!), at USAfundraising@rednoseday.org.

BY MAIL: You can also make a donation or turn in your fundraising dollars by mail – send a check or money order made payable to “Red Nose Day Fund” to the address below. Please include a note with your name, company/organization/school name, your location, and details about your fundraiser (we love photos too!).

BY PHONE: Donate or turn in your fundraising dollars by phone by calling +1 800 500 4373.

IN PERSON: Cash donations can be delivered and accepted for the Red Nose Day Fund at your local Walgreens or Duane Reade stores nationwide. If you would like to claim a tax deduction on a cash donation made in store, please save the receipt provided by the Walgreens or Duane Reade and mail it to the address below. Include your full name and mailing address so we can send you a letter of acknowledgement that can be used to claim a tax deduction.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Comic Relief Inc., the parent organization of Red Nose Day, is a 501(c)(3) organization with Federal Tax ID 01-0885377. Your donation is tax deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law.​

Can I use payroll giving to make a regular donation to Red Nose Day from my pay?

Yes – if your employer operates a payroll giving scheme then you can set up a regular deduction from your pay and request that it comes to Red Nose Day. Please ask your employer for more information.

I know that my employer operates a matched giving scheme. How can I get them to match my donation?

Ask your employer for a matched giving form and send it along with your check, online payment reference or bank receipt to:

Can I allocate my donation to go to US or International projects or a specific project only?

Unfortunately, we cannot allocate your money to a specific project or country but every dollar distributed through the Red Nose Day Fund has the potential to save and change the lives of children who are in need, in America and around the world.

I’ve collected some foreign cash currency. Can I donate to Red Nose Day with it?

We are only able to accept cash donations in US dollars. In order to donate the foreign currency to us, you could convert the money at a bank or foreign exchange teller and then donate it to Red Nose Day.
